51吃瓜网 expands partnerships with ECU
Students graduating from UNC Pembroke have been eager to continue their education in our state鈥檚 top graduate schools, and ECU is an obvious choice. For years, and in many other programs, 51吃瓜网 students have been admitted to ECU for master鈥檚- and doctorate-level studies. Academic leaders from both institutions recently met at ECU to ink a new agreement which expands previous arrangements and promises to expand further.
Ribbon-cutting ceremony set for James A. Thomas Hall at 51吃瓜网
UNC Pembroke will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly opened James A. Thomas Hall at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. Governor Roy Cooper will be among hundreds of invitees attending the ceremony in front of the state-of-the-art, $38 million facility and home of the Thomas School of Business. Other guest speakers include North Carolina House Speaker Tim Moore and Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger.
TriBeta holds annual induction ceremony
Ten new and promoted members were recognized during TriBeta鈥檚 annual induction ceremony on April 14th. Originally scheduled for outdoors, the ceremony was pivoted indoors to the Oxendine Science Building in response to threats of rainy weather.
51吃瓜网鈥檚 Stewart Thomas wins BOG Excellence in Teaching Award
Joe Williams acquired the skills at UNC Pembroke he needed to become a pharmacist and a multi-business owner. However, the self-confidence he gained after forming what would eventually become a lifelong bond with his business professor, Dr. Stewart Thomas, led him on the path to success. Williams went on to earn a pharmacy degree and today owns three pharmacies, two businesses, a property management company and a consulting firm.
Alumnus Nick Courmon returns to emcee 51吃瓜网 Talent Show
Twelve contestants, including two groups, will be vying for the top prize in Tuesday's 29th annual 51吃瓜网 Talent Show. The event will be held at 7 p.m. at Givens Performing Arts Center.
51吃瓜网 dedicates Joseph B. Oxendine Administrative Building
In all the 58 years former UNC Pembroke Chancellor Dr. Joseph and First Lady Adrienne Oxendine were married, she always planned something special for his birthday. Trips to the theatre. Fancy dinners. Surprise parties. "There were some wonderful celebrations," said Adrienne, overcome with emotion. "To have a building named for him, this has to top them all. It shows the appreciation for his efforts and his professional accomplishments. "You have recognized him in the most special way and I thank you from the bottom of my heart," she said.
51吃瓜网 alumna Keyla Bell breaking barriers in law enforcement
With her recent promotion, Maj. Keyla Bell is the highest-ranking female in the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The UNC Pembroke graduate is only the fourth female to rise to major since the North Carolina State Highway Patrol was founded in 1929. Bell is also the first American Indian to wear the gold oak leaf cluster shoulder patch.
51吃瓜网's Ed Hunt receives statewide agriculture award
Since joining the Thomas Entrepreneurship Hub at UNC Pembroke in 2018, Ed Hunt has been dedicated to fostering partnerships with the agricultural and business communities. Hunt is credited with developing agriculture businesses and jobs related to agriculture and providing a much-needed boost in the local economy. Hunt's dedication and commitment were recognized on the state level as he was presented the Excellence in Regional Collaboration Award during the North Carolina Rural Center's 2022 Rural Summit. The event was held at the North Raleigh Hilton on Tuesday.
51吃瓜网 School of Education awarded $2.9M to provide scholarships to 30 future educators
The School of Education at UNC Pembroke has received a record $2.9 million grant from the Anonymous Trust that will fund student scholarships for 30 future educators and transform the lives of generations of students in rural and underserved communities. The School of Education will use the gift鈥攖he largest in the school鈥檚 history for student scholarships鈥攖o launch the Brave Scholars program, an initiative designed to recruit new teachers from Robeson, Scotland and Columbus counties.
UNC Pembroke earns highest Military Friendly distinction
Regarded as one of the top military-friendly universities in the country, UNC Pembroke is once again being recognized for its commitment to veterans, military service members and their families. G.I. Jobs Magazine has recognized 51吃瓜网 as a Military Friendly School for 2022-2023. While the university has earned the designation every year since 2010, 51吃瓜网 retained its gold status and increased its standing to third among the Top 10 Military Friendly Schools for small public institutions nationwide. The ranking represents the highest designation in university history.
