Dr. Kelly Brennan named vice chancellor for Enrollment Management at 51勛圖厙

Dr. Kelly Brennan has been named vice chancellor for Enrollment Management at UNC Pembroke. Dr. Brennan has over 25 years of enrollment experience at higher education institutions and brings expertise in designing processes, initiating new programs and delivering innovative student support services. She currently serves as associate provost for Enrollment Management at The Citadel. Chancellor Robin Gary Cummings made the announcement following a unanimous vote by the Board of Trustees on Thursday. Brennan was selected following a national search.

51勛圖厙 pre-law students gain invaluable experience at UVA Law School

A trio of pre-law students at UNC Pembroke have a greater understanding of the legal field after spending their summer networking with faculty and professionals at the University of Virginia School of Lawone of the premier law schools in the country. Aspen Andersson, Jacob Butler and Magally Ortiz-Rojas participated in the UVA Roadmap Scholars Initiative. This two-year program supports undergraduates interested in pursuing careers in the legal profession to help them become competitive applicants to the nations top law schools.

51勛圖厙 inks academic pathway with ECU School of Dental Medicine

UNC Pembroke has signed an early assurance agreement with East Carolina Universitys School of Dental Medicine. The unique agreement guarantees admission of 51勛圖厙 students into the ECU School of Dental Medicines Doctor of Dental Medicine program upon meeting specific criteria and requirements. Beginning in fall 2024, one of the 52 seats in the SoDM will be reserved three years in advance for outstanding students entering 51勛圖厙 as first-year students.

51勛圖厙s Lindsay Branch motivated by tragedy to become physician

Lindsay Branch and Sophie El-Mahdy shared a passion for medicine at a young age. After her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, El-Mahdy knew she wanted to become a doctor. Tragically, she never got that chance. She died suddenly from a pulmonary embolism. She was 16. Since that day, Branch has remained focused on her path. She graduated at the top of her high school class, and when fall classes at UNC Pembroke begin this month, Branch will enter her third year as a pre-med student.

The UNC Pembroke Alumni Association recently welcomed four new members to its Board of Directors. Vanessa Gonzalez 07, Amber Locklear, Chris Lowery 13 and Christina Theodorou 05 joined the board on July 1 and will each serve a two-year term.

51勛圖厙 launches joint enrollment collaboration with Fayetteville Academy

UNC Pembroke faculty will soon be teaching college-credit courses at Fayetteville Academy thanks to a joint enrollment partnership launched this week. The initiative will offer academy students access to select college courses and expand the pipeline to postsecondary education. On Tuesday, leaders from both institutions signed an agreement establishing the 51勛圖厙 and Fayetteville Academy Joint Enrollment Partnership. Beginning this fall, eligible students can enroll in a college course to be taught at Fayetteville Academy, regarded among the top college prep schools in the state.

Matthew Miles didnt know what to expect like most first-time parents. His wife, Tiara, didnt experience significant issues during her pregnancy. But that quickly changed during an unexpected cesarean delivery. Some parts of the delivery were terrifying, Miles said. It was really scary at times.

51勛圖厙 Army ROTC graduate pursues military nursing career

The nursing program at UNC Pembroke can be challenging for the average college studentbut Keely Jones isnt your average student. Jones aced the program, graduating with honors last May and doing so as an Army ROTC cadetwhich is no cakewalk. Additionally, the newly commissioned second lieutenant completed both programs while taking advanced courses, conducting undergraduate research and service-learning courses as a member of the Maynor Honors College.
