UNC Pembroke Campus Recreation offers a welcoming and energetic environment where students, alumni and the community can stay active. With access to modern fitness spaces like the Campbell Wellness Center, aquatics center, racquetball courts, fitness studio and our scenic disc golf course, Campus Rec provides something for every fitness level. From F45 Training and group fitness classes to intramural sports and wellness programs, our services are designed to support your physical and mental well-being.

English E. Jones Center

The following facilities are available in the English E. Jones Health and Physical Education Center. To reserve these facilities, please visit the online .

This facility makes available the use of aerobic, free weight and free motion apparatus. Enjoy the relaxed environment (TV and Radio) and the many auxiliary exercise modules that are available.

Policy and Procedures for using Racquetball courts:

  1. Courts must be reserved, ideally at least 24 hours in advance, and playing time is scheduled in one-hour segments;
  2. Safety eyewear is mandatory;
  3. Proper footwear and dress is mandatory;
  4. No food or drink is allowed inside the actual playing area;
  5. No other sports are allowed to play on racquetball courts.

This is where students can get PE uniforms for classes along with towels and locks for their uniforms. One can check out basketballs, football, volleyballs or other athletic type equipment with a proper ID.

Checking Out Equipment: You must present your BravesCard (51³Ô¹ÏÍø photo ID card to the PE Equipment Manager or authorized UNC Pembroke employee to check out equipment, and then leave such ID in the Equipment Room to insure proper return. Damaged equipment can result in repair/replacement fines.

A dynamic space for group fitness classes including dance, yoga, and F45 Training, providing a welcoming environment for participants of all fitness levels.

The Aquatics Center at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø features a competitive pool named in honor of former Olympic swimmer Sue Walsh, this facility supports both competitive teams and recreational users alike.

Facility Features:

  • Lap swim pool with depths up to 5 ft, ideal for fitness laps.

  • Dive tank reaches up to 12 ft, accommodating dives and deeper water activities.

  • Sue Walsh Swimming Pool — home to 51³Ô¹ÏÍø swim meets and team practices.

Events & Programs:

  • Keep an eye out for upcoming aquatics events, such as swim clinics or themed swim nights, posted by Campus Recreation on .

  • Virtual aquatic instruction, including CPR/AED classes and water safety trainings, are available via American Red Cross resources.

51³Ô¹ÏÍø students, faculty and staff do not need to apply for membership.

Alumni/community memberships are available for purchase through Campus Recreation and do need to apply for membership.

Competitive Sports Complex

The intramural field located in the competitive sports complex is a brand new state-of-the-art turf field built for a wide range of activities, including but not limited to soccer, softball, flag football and so much more.

The field is set to open Fall 2025. More information to come.

Disc Golf

The disc golf course is located on the north side of campus, situated on and adjacent to Pine Cottage. It is an 9-hole course that is free and open to the campus community from sun up to sun down and is not reservable without special permission from Campus Recreation.
