Green to Gold Program

UNC Pembroke proudly supports active-duty soldiers through the Green to Gold program 鈥� a unique opportunity to transition from enlisted service to commissioned officer. This Army ROTC pathway allows qualified soldiers to pursue a bachelor鈥檚 or graduate degree while developing leadership skills and earning a commission as a second lieutenant. Whether you're seeking career advancement or a new challenge, Green to Gold helps you reach your goals while continuing to serve with honor.

Options

The  provides Enlisted Soldiers an opportunity to pursue a commission as an Army Officers. Soldiers can work toward either a baccalaureate or graduate degree while participating in the ROTC leadership program. Options are:

Scholarship

Selected Soldiers will leave active-duty status to attend college. This can be a two, three or four-year program. The Army will provide full tuition and fees or room and board (capped at $10,000), $600 per semester for books, and a monthly stipend ($420).

Active Duty

Selected Soldiers will remain on Active Duty and be reassigned to the university location. The soldier must be able to complete their degree requirements in two years.  Soldiers will retain their current pay and allowances while completing their last two years of school. The Soldier is responsible for paying for the cost of attending school (tuition, fees & books); most Soldiers elect to use their GI benefits to cover the cost of school.

Non-Scholarship

Qualified Soldiers will leave active-duty status to attend college. The soldier must be able to complete their degree requirements in two years. The Army will provide a monthly stipend ($420). All expenses are the Soldiers responsibility; most Soldiers elect to use their Post 9/11 GI benefits to cover the cost of school and provide a living allowance.

The Campbell University Recruiting Officer provides weekly information briefs. In person briefings are held at the Fort Liberty Education Center, wing F on Tuesdays at 1000 hrs.

Medical Examination Process:
Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board (DODMERB)

Active Duty & Scholarship Applicants:

Scheduling your DODMERB examination: Once a soldier鈥檚 application has advanced to 鈥淏oard Ready鈥� status his/her name will be forwarded from U.S. Army Cadet Command to DODMERB. DODMERB will then email the soldier contact information of a contracted medical facility and will assist the soldier in scheduling of the physical examination. It is the soldier鈥檚 responsibility to follow the guidance given by DODMERB to complete all required physical processing requirements.

Non-Scholarship Applicants:

Active duty soldiers can complete the examination by visiting their local military physician; follow these detailed  on completing each form. Once it is completed the soldier must give the examination to the local ROTC representative (physical must be approved by DODMERB prior to acceptance and discharge).
