About

A native Texan, Dr. Hudson has taught in the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø History Department since 2018. His current research focuses on the export of refined petroleum products to China from the United States during the early twentieth century, a time which established some of the first significant economic ties between the two countries. His current book project, Under Siege: Standard Oil in Nationalist South China, 1915-1928, will offer students, scholars, and the general public key lessons into the history of this strategic relationship, one that remains critically important to this day. For the 2022-2023 academic year he was the recipient of an Outstanding Faculty Teaching Award, and in Summer 2024 was a NC Humanities Fellow. He served in the United States Marine Corps (1993-1997) and always welcomes the chance to work with our nation's veterans and non-traditional students.
