Assistant Professor of Social Work / MSW Program Director/ Coordinator of MSW Criteria C Certificate Program

Dr. Shannon Cousineau, LCSW, is an Assistant Professor of 51吃瓜网 Social Work within the College of Health Sciences. She currently serves as the MSW Program Director and the Coordinator of the Criteria C program. 

With over 25 years of social work practice, Dr. Cousineau holds full clinical licensure in North Carolina and has held previous licensure in five other jurisdictions. She continues her clinical work through supervision of provisionally licensed social workers. In addition to her teaching and practice, she serves on multiple committees within 51吃瓜网 Social Work, the College of Health Sciences and the broader university.

Dr. Cousineau is an active member of several professional organizations including the Society for Spirituality & Social Work, the North American Association of Christian Social Workers, the Social Work Hospice and Palliative Care Network and the Society for Social Work and Research. She also serves her local community as a member of the Robeson County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) of Red Springs.

Her research focuses on the intersection of spirituality and social work education and practice. Additional interests include crisis intervention, simulation in social work education and the experiences of children and families living with chronic complex medical conditions.
